Piraeus (Athens) Greece – As you board the ship in Piraeus, Athens, enjoy a Champagne reception and the sounds of great Irish music upon check-in.  As you go onboard, you will be greeted with a lineup of cabin stewards waiting to escort you to your cabin.  This is only a hint of the service you will experience throughout your voyage.  For guests who plan on spending a day or two in Athens before or after the cruise, there is much to see and do. Spoiled for choice – how you’ll likely feel with a mere day in Athens. The Greek capital is one of the world’s oldest cities and is often called the “cradle of Western civilization.”   Athens is brimming with grand sights, including the iconic Acropolis.  Athens is known for its celebrated cuisine and legendary nightlife, so deciding where to begin can be challenging.

Kusadasi, (Ephesus), Turkey, is one of the major cruise ship ports in Turkey.  Kusadasi is a resort town on the Aegean Coast known for its shopping, beaches, diving, and entertainment activities.  Kusadasi is also known as “Bird Island” due to Pigeon Island’s shape at the town’s south end.  Kusadasi Bay is a volcanic one, meaning the seabed is covered in cracks and fissures emitting hot water. Divers are generally quite surprised at how hot the water is when they dive into one of these hot water outpourings for the first time. There are three central locations for diving in Kusadasi: Shore Dive, Barbados Reef, and Adabanko Reef.  It is also prevalent for its beautiful beaches.  In addition to fun, sun, and water, it is also an excellent place for shopping.  Visitors from Europe and beyond flock to the town to find fabulous deals and bargains of top brands.

Disembarkation will begin early morning.  For guests planning on staying in Athens post-cruise, there is a lot to see and do.  With one day in Athens, you can easily visit the Acropolis and Parthenon, the Acropolis Museum, see the Changing of the Guard at Syntagma Square, and enjoy Greek cuisine in charming Plaka. Depending on how many hours you have, you could add on a few more places of interest, like the Ancient Agora, Anafiotika, and markets as well.
